Acrylic, gifted objects, pothos, water, warm white LEDs

Memoir is a highly autobiographical sculptural collage that maps out connections made to people and places throughout my life. Gifted objects are the physical reminders of connections that I can move with me; the acrylic containers and panels represent the things I can't (a lake, favorite trail, the front door window of a former apartment). The pothos vines represent how social connections are shared across time and space; one clipping can grow into a plant whose clippings are further gifted, creating a social network reflected in the propagation of the plants. The plants must be watered and continually cared for, just as relationships across distance and time must be. Wires connect all elements to a potted plant, rooted in the present.

In Memory of the Dinner Table

Acrylic, water, white light LEDs, fan

In Memory of the Dinner Table acts as a memorial to my childhood dinner table. On the table the words "how was your day?" are repeated in a spiral, while on the platform the words "love you, miss you, see you soon" are repeated in a mirror spiral beneath. This piece acts a memorial to daily domestic rituals that are mundane until they aren't, the fragility not apparent until they are disrupted, and later mourned.

This installation represents fireplaces that exist in the homes of my family members. These fireplaces act as both spaces for gathering and warmth for the living and as spaces of memory; adorned with photos of family members that have passed and their urns. Lights are synced to my own deep breaths.
